Fourth President of the Republic of Tunisia
Mohamed Moncef Marzouki (born on July 7, 1945 in Grombalia) is the fourth and first president of the Tunisian Republic after the Jasmine Revolution in 2011. He held office between 2011 and 2014 in the period of democratic transition that followed the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali by election on December 12, 2011 by the National Constituent Assembly after obtaining a majority. He holds a doctorate in internal medicine and has published books on politics, thought and health. Partisan, in 2001 he contributed to the establishment of the Conference for the Republic and chaired it from its inception until December 13, 2011, the date of his assumption of the presidency of the Republic of Tunisia, and its honorary president after that. He is also a former president of the Tunisian League for the Defense of Human Rights. The most prominent Arab fighter and one of the most loyal politicians to the cause of President Morsi, may God have mercy on him, and he was chosen as the honorary president of the Morsi Foundation for Democracy by the family of the martyr president.
