The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) reported that dozens of settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in groups. Amidst warnings of an “explosion of the situation” due to the entity’s insistence on organizing a “flag march”, which will start at noon on Thursday in Jerusalem.
Wafa added that the occupation police emptied the Al-Qibli Mosque of worshipers. They also deployed in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa and at its gates, to secure the settlers’ incursions.
The agency pointed out that the former member of the Knesset, the extremist Rabbi Yehuda Glick, led one of the storming groups, pointing out that the settlers “continue their provocative incursions in large numbers,” some of them barefoot and in priestly attire, in order to perform Talmudic rituals.
In the context, the Palestinian presidency said – yesterday – that the insistence on organizing a “flag march” in the city of Jerusalem leads to “exploding the situation.”
The spokesman for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, warned of the Israeli government’s insistence on organizing the march, describing it as “provocative.”
The leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Mushir al-Masri, called on the people of Jerusalem to mobilize the masses to confront the “flag march.” He also called on the Palestinian people in the Holy City, the West Bank and the lands of 1948 to clash with the occupation, stressing that the resistance is ready to preserve Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Extremist right-wing groups called for massive storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, while carrying Israeli flags.
Extremist groups announced – through a series of posts on social networks – that they intend to mobilize 5,000 of their supporters to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque.
